Sturgeon Surge Past Drakes 8-3

July 13 2024 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Marysville Drakes 8-3 at Bryant Field on July 13 2024. Martinez collected 16 hits and scored in four innings while holding Marysville to six hits. The Sturgeon also capitalized on four Marysville errors.

Martinez took control with two runs in the second inning and three more in the third to build a 5-1 lead. The Sturgeon added a run in the fourth and two in the eighth. Marysville scored twice in the fifth but could not close the gap.

Nick Adgar went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI for Martinez. Erik Whitfield went 3-for-5 with a double an RBI and a run, while Tony Riley went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a double. Jon Fargnoli added two hits and an RBI and Andrew Curran contributed a hit and an RBI. Martinez recorded no home runs in the game.

Harrison Aiken earned the win after allowing one hit and no runs with seven strikeouts and two walks over 4.1 innings. Brady Bibbs worked 4.2 innings and allowed five hits and three runs with five strikeouts. Sergio Patsy took the loss for Marysville after giving up eight hits and six runs in four innings.
