Marysville Drakes Pull Away From Martinez Sturgeon 8-4

June 7 2024 The Marysville Drakes defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 8-4 after scoring in four different innings. Marysville and Martinez traded four-run third innings before the Drakes added one run in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to secure the win. Marysville finished with 10 hits while Martinez had seven.

Joe Starick led the Drakes with three hits in five at-bats, including a double, and drove in one run. Chris Cook went 2-for-5 with two RBI and scored twice, while Jumpei Ohashi added two hits and scored once. Caleb Harmond contributed two RBI, and JD Leslie scored twice. For Martinez, Caleb Natov had two hits, including a double, and Tony Riley went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Mike Vochelli earned the win for Marysville with six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out six. Garrett Mos started for the Drakes and allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits in three innings. Harrison Aiken took the loss for Martinez despite allowing only one earned run over six innings; he gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. Dustin Hernandez pitched one inning and allowed two runs, while Trace Hitchens struck out two in a scoreless ninth.
