Bakersfield Train Robbers Top Marysville Drakes 4-2

May 29 2024 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Marysville Drakes 4-2 at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield scored once in the third fourth fifth and seventh innings while limiting Marysville to two runs in the eighth. The Train Robbers finished with eight hits and no errors while the Drakes had four hits and one error.

Austin Toerner earned the win with seven shutout innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out eight. Josiah Bowles recorded the save with two-thirds of a scoreless inning. Noah Lewis took the loss for Marysville after allowing three runs two earned on seven hits in 5.1 innings with four strikeouts and two walks.

Noah McCreary led Bakersfield with two hits and two RBI. Raul Ortega added a hit and an RBI while Paul Carreno doubled. Toerner also went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a run, and Jalyn Lee had a hit and scored once. Marysvilles four-hit attack included singles by Thomas Latham John Smith JD Leslie and Drake Ayala, with DeMarco Hawthorne and Declan Peterson each credited with an RBI.

Bakersfield held a 3-0 lead after five innings and added its fourth run in the seventh. Marysville mounted its only scoring rally in the eighth, but Bowles closed out the game to preserve the 4-2 victory.
