Vallejo Seaweed Outslug Marysville Drakes 18-11

May 26 2024 The Vallejo Seaweed defeated the Marysville Drakes 18-11 in a high-scoring game at Wilson Park. Vallejo collected 17 hits and scored in six innings, including a five-run second inning and a three-run eighth. Marysville finished with 18 hits but could not overcome the early deficit.

Nick Dibennetto led Vallejo with four hits and five RBI, while Ike Brown added three hits and three RBI. Fred Seto went 3-for-3 with four RBI, and Eddie Molina scored three runs and drove in one. Mickey Nunes and Henry Paulino each scored three times, with Nunes contributing two hits and Molina adding two hits and two walks.

Marysville was paced by Joe Starick, who went 5-for-6 with six RBI and hit the games only home run. Caleb Harmond went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI, while John Smith and Jalen Gordon each collected two hits. The Drakes scored four runs in the fourth and added two runs in both the fifth and sixth, but Vallejo maintained the lead and added three insurance runs in the eighth.

Seto earned the win after allowing nine runs seven earned on 14 hits in five innings without a walk while striking out one. David Gustafson worked two innings, and Francisco Leon finished with 1.2 innings. Garrett Mos took the loss for Marysville after surrendering 11 runs six earned on 11 hits in 3.2 innings with three walks and four strikeouts.
