Marysville Drakes Outslug Bakersfield Train Robbers 24-14

July 20 2023 The Marysville Drakes defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 24-14 in a high-scoring game. Marysville collected 20 hits and overcame Bakersfield’s 14-hit attack while both teams committed multiple errors.

Marysville broke through with five runs in the third inning and added five more in the fourth. After Bakersfield moved ahead 12-10 through five innings, the Drakes erupted for nine runs in the sixth to take control. Marysville added a run in the seventh and four in the eighth while Bakersfield managed one run in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Evan Blum led the Drakes with four hits four runs and seven RBI including a home run. Tomas Moreno also had four hits with four RBI and a home run, while Tyler Carpenter went 4-for-6 with three runs. Alan Alonso added three hits three runs and two stolen bases. Bakersfield’s S. Goodwin had three hits and three RBI, and Tom Buckman drove in three runs.

Mike Stellmack earned the win after allowing four runs three earned on four hits in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Tim Nichols finished with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts. Jacob Perez took the loss for Bakersfield after allowing 14 runs 10 earned on 12 hits in 5.1 innings, with five strikeouts and five walks.
