Marysville Drakes Defeat Monterey Amberjacks 9-3

June 28 2023 The Marysville Drakes defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 9-3 at Bryant Field. Marysville finished with seven hits and scored five runs in the fourth inning to take control after the teams were tied 2-2 through two innings. The Drakes added two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth to secure the victory.

Tucker Burton led Marysville’s offense by going 2-for-4 with two doubles three runs and three RBI. Joseph Starick added a triple and three RBI while Jalen Gordon scored twice and drove in a run. Lyndon Weaver had two hits and one RBI. Monterey’s Adrian Garcia hit a home run and drove in one run while Gabriel Murillo collected two doubles.

Evan Nakagawa earned the win for Marysville after allowing four hits and three runs, two earned, in six innings. He walked three and struck out six. Mike Stellmack finished with three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out five. Monterey starter Tristan Cavazos took the loss after surrendering six earned runs on three hits in four innings with seven walks and five strikeouts.
