Marysville Drakes Rally Past Monterey Amberjacks 10-4

June 7 2023 The Marysville Drakes rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Monterey Amberjacks 10-4. Marysville finished with 12 hits and overcame a 3-0 Monterey lead after two innings. The Amberjacks scored once in the first and twice in the second before the Drakes tied the game with three runs in the third inning.

Marysville moved in front with three more runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth. The Drakes broke the game open with a three-run eighth inning, while Monterey scored its final run in the ninth. Marysville committed two errors and Monterey played error-free baseball.

Erik Mitchell led the Drakes offensively by going 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. Lyndon Weaver scored twice and drove in a run while Evan Blum and Joseph Starick each had two hits and one RBI. Tyler Carpenter and Earl Johnson also contributed one RBI apiece.

Ryan Diaz paced Monterey with two hits including a home run and two RBI. Tristan Cavazos went 2-for-3 and scored twice while Sean Bennett added two hits. Michael Vochelli earned the win for Marysville after allowing four hits and three earned runs over five innings with eight strikeouts. Mike Stellmack added two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and Neil Boudreau worked a scoreless ninth. Daniel Benavidez took the loss for Monterey after surrendering seven hits and six earned runs in 3.1 innings.
